Stockholm

Stockholm occupies 14 islands connected by bridges. The waters of the Baltic Sea penetrate the city, it looks like a floating city.

You have several possibilities to go to Stockholm: by boat from Turku with Viking line company for 80 euros but the crossing takes 16 hours and 30 minutes or you can take a plane from Kuopio or a train to Helsinki and after a plane to Stockholm to have a cheaper flight ticket.

What should you visit in Stockholm?

First, if you have never visited Stockholm, you must go to the old part of the city called Gamla Stan and make a detour to the royal palace to see the soldiers of the royal guards. You can try the special princess cake in a coffee shop or take a selfie in the narrowest street or in front of colorful houses.

You can also enjoy the docks and watch the boats of all sizes.

After, you can observe the city view from the hill of the Slussen district.

Moreover, you can do a walk in the flower gardens of the island Djugardens or rent a bike to ride around the island.

Here, you can stop your walk and visit the Vasa Museum, the Vasa is the tallest ship ever built in Sweden and the best preserved of the 17 th century ship in Europe.

While strolling through the streets of Stockholm you will surely come across the city hall, you should know that inside there is the blue room, place of the meal and the ball of the Nobel Prize.

If you have more time to spend, you can make an excursion to Drottningholm, the current home of the royal family. The first Swedish monument delared world heritage site by UNESCO. You can walk in the big park reminiscent of the Versailles gardens. You can also visit the museum side of the palace very well conserved with Napoleon painting or famous French books in the old library and also rich golden decorations.

To go to Drottningholm take the metro line number 18, 17 or 19 to Brommaplan station and after the bus number 176 or the bus number 177 to the Drottningholm stop.
