First of all, I advise you to walk around the city and visit the famous monument of Helsinki like the Helsinki Lutheran Cathedral located in the centre of Helsinki on the place of the senate or the Ouspenski Cathedral, an orthodox cathedral.

You can also pass by the Helsinki central station located in a big and beautiful place named Rautatientori.

To get around the city you can use the pretty green tram or for more fun an electric scooter, you can find it everywhere in the city.

You must go to the harbour and do shopping and smell the fish on the market place on the harbour named Kauppatori. You will also see the Ferris wheel on the port and boats and ferries on the harbour. There is also a covered market on the harbour where you can find a lot of local specialities like bear or reindeer pate, cinnamon roll, salmon etc.

You can go to the Korkeasaari zoo located on an island by maritime shuttle from May or by bus. You need to take the bus number 16 from the central station. You can see at the zoo the famous reindeer, deer or bear from Finland. You will spend a good morning in the sun with a view of Helsinki and eat a lunch in front of bears. The cost of an entrance ticket for a student is only 12 euros.
I also advise you to go for a walk to Suomenlinna islands just in front of Helsinki. It is a maritime fortress with beautiful landscapes. Suomelinna consists of eight islands: five are connected by bridges and are available. On the island you can see cannons, tunnels, a church and beaches.
The maritime shuttle ticket cost only 2.50 euros. It's worth a visit!

How did I go to Helsinki ? I travelled by omnibus from Kuopio. It cost me about twenty euros. It’s about 5 hours.
You can also take a train for almost 40 euros or a plane.
How I got my accommodation? I chose a small apartment located in the city centre with the website airbnb. It was very reasonable. Otherwise, you can choose a hostel. There are cheap ones in the city centre.
