Sauna

There are several sauna in Kuopio and you have a special student price for each Sauna.

The traditional one, I went first with friends in the traditional smoke sauna at the Rauhalahti hotel. We talked with a Finnish man, there are a lot of local people. This sauna has a beautiful view on the Kallavesi lake. I advise you to go there in the evening at sunset hour. It's beautiful and of course you can go back and forth in the frozen lake to refresh yourself from the sauna. The only drawback is that the locker room and the sauna are a bit small whereas we were a lot. It’s only open on Tuesday in winter and also on Thursday in summer. You can also eat a traditional meal in the evening but it’s more expensive.

Kuopion Saana

My favourite sauna ! It is more expensive, it’s 13 euros. But for 3 euros more, You have all included for 2 hours. There is a smoke sauna, an electric sauna, outdoor pools : cold or hot as you prefer, a jacuzzi and of course you can go also in the Kallavesi iced lake. But, if you are looking this article and you are studying in Kuopio, you must absolutely go to Saana, it’s just an incredible place for a small price for all the possibilities that the sauna offers. At the beginning, it’s a little bit destabilizing because where the bus drop off you are in an industrial area. But inside, it’s really beautiful and you have even a view on the lake and the forest from the swimming pool. If you are ahead of time, you can also take a coffee or a chocolate milk in the terrace on a sofa with again a beautiful view thanks to the giant bay window. It’s really a beautiful place!

Otherwise, there are also sauna in sport lockers room but on Monday during one hours for women and on an another day for men. You can also book sauna for one hour with your friends with Kuopias, the real estate agency but you must pay or you can go to the Kuopio swimming pool, there is also a smoke sauna and a jacuzzi for only 6.50 €.
