In this article, we're going to talk about parties and fun! So, party people, pay attention!

Well, first of all, you should know that we arrived on the 8th of January. You can imagine that our dear friend the Covid was there! Indeed, at that time, Finland had a peak of new cases. Indeed, there were about 9000 new cases per day, which is huge for a country with about 5.5 million inhabitants…

So at first we couldn't really go out. Indeed, bars and nightclubs were closed. As for the restaurants, they closed at 6pm. That's early isn't it? It was a sad news for us...

Well, we won't lie to you, we found alternatives! Indeed, all Erasmus students live in the same residences. So, on weekends, we would get together in each other's flats to party! And above all, these parties allowed us to get to know the other Erasmus students.

It was only a month later, around the week of 7 February, that the bars reopened. But be careful, only until 00h. So you might as well say that for partying it's a bit tight, especially as the buses don't run as much at night. That said, we were all very happy!

Kuopio is a "small" city, there are not many places to dance. Most of the time we went to a club called Nousu. This club is divided in two. On one side the atmosphere is more for dancing and on the other side for singing. Indeed, the karaoke is sacred here! And the Finns sing a lot of metal, it's quite disturbing and unpleasant.

The restrictions were lifted on Monday 28th February! Bars now close at 5am. But the bus problem remains the same, so you have to leave well before closing time (or well after for the bravest).

I'm going to make a small aside but if you lose your personal belongings in a public place in Finland, you can be sure to find them! Indeed, Finland is one of the few countries in the world where whoever finds a wallet or your phone has the best chance of returning it to its owner. A little anecdote, once I lost my jacket in a club, I thought that someone had left with it or had mistaken it for his... Well no! This person had brought it back to the locker room and I found it! You really feel safe in Finland.
