In this article, I tell you about the cool things to do in Finland !
1. Going on a dog sledding trip
Going on a dog sledding safari is one of the favourite activities of the French.
It is a unique experience that takes you through magnificent landscapes in almost perfect silence. If you like dogs, you will also have a great time with them as they are often eager to cuddle and interact with us.
Please note! When choosing a company for your safari, try to choose one that treats its dogs well.

2. Snowmobiling
Snowmobiling is a very popular activity in Lapland. It is completely different from sled dogs, but there is one thing they have in common: the landscapes you travel through are beautiful!
You can go on a safari in a group or in some places you can rent a snowmobile and go on your own.

3. Watching the Northern Lights
The Northern Lights are a dream come true for many people.
Witnessing the Northern Lights is always an enchantment, although many visitors may only experience it once in their lives.

4. Visit an ice hotel
You can find ice hotels in Lapland.
You can even sleep in them, but a night in such a place is often very expensive... The Ice Hotel in Kiruna, one of the largest ice hotels. It is really impressive!

5. Visit Santa Claus
Yes, Finnish Lapland is Father Christmas' country, everyone knows that! In Rovaniemi you will find his village (right at the Arctic Circle) and then you can meet him. He speaks all languages so no worries about asking him what you want 🙂

6. Practice the Finnish national sport: sauna
Did you know that there are more saunas than cars in Finland?
Most Finns have a sauna at home. Saunas can be used in all seasons, whether in winter or summer. To make your sauna experience complete, you should go for a swim in cold water (from the sea or a lake) or roll around in the snow!

7. Walk on a frozen lake
Finland has many large lakes and in winter they freeze over.
However, you should be very careful and never venture out alone; when the lakes start to freeze over, you should wait for a while until the ice is thick enough.

8. Discover the Ice Palaces
Every year, the town of Kemi sets about building the Lumi Linna, the snow castle. Made exclusively of snow, the atmosphere is surreal, and the lighting effects of the decorations contribute to this special atmosphere.
The temperature inside is stable at -5°C. These ice palaces are built in winter but disappear in April every year!

9. Taste Arctic specialities
In Lapland, we are very dependent on nature and the seasons. In winter, nothing grows and it is often what was harvested months before that is used for cooking in winter.
In Lapland, you will find that reindeer meat is often on the menu in restaurants and the main vegetable is the potato cooked in all sorts of ways.

10. Stay in a chalet or igloo with a glass roof
Cottages and igloos with large glass roofs are perhaps the most local accommodation Finland has to offer its visitors.
